Dr. Erin Burton

Brett Burton

Erin is proud to have been born into a large military family. She attended The Georgia Institute of Technology in Atlanta, Georgia. She graduated from the University of Georgia in Athens, Georgia, with a B.S. in Biology. She attended the College of Veterinary Medicine at UGA and graduated in 1994. In 1999, she and her husband Brett opened Long Point Animal Hospital and have since welcomed two beautiful daughters into their home along with their current three dogs, three cats, and two clinic cats. When she isn't working or carpooling, Erin enjoys swimming, reading, volunteering, teaching Christian formation classes at Christ Our King Church, and napping! Her interests include medicine, geriatrics, and pain management.

 

Dr. Brett Burton

Brett Burton

Dr. Brett Burton attended USC Aiken, and graduated with a B.S. in Biology. He attended the College of Veterinary Medicine at UGA and graduated in 1994. Dr. Brett Burton is very focused on his work, but splits his time at the practice with his wife, Dr. Erin Burton, so he can be actively involved in his children's lives. Dr. Brett Burton is a huge hockey fan and plays adult league hockey. He enjoys swimming, working out, and live music. His first love is working with cats; we call him the cat whisperer at our office!

 

Dr. Lara Allison

Lara

Dr. Lara Allison is originally from Cape Town, South Africa but has lived in Charleston since 1983. Lara attended the University of Georgia where she received both her Bachelor of Science and her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine. It was at UGA where she first met Dr.’s Brett and Erin Burton and she has been friends with them ever since.

Since then, Lara has predominately practiced Small Animal Medicine. She has worked in Emergency Medicine, taught at the Veterinary Technician School, and worked at several veterinary practices as a Relief Veterinarian in the Charleston Area. Lara is now happy to be part of the team at Long Point Animal Hospital. Lara also works part-time as a Personal Life Coach where she helps people discover and achieve their dreams.

Lara’s passions include internal medicine, behavior and pain management. She has extensively studies the importance of the human-animal bond and how the mind body-connection is instrumental in healing. Lara has consulted and coached clients all over the country who have needed help with their pets, and who want to understand the deeper aspects of healing. Lara has also taught several workshops on headline and the human-animal bond here in the low country.

Lara’s hobbies include traveling, music, gardening, reading, and yoga. She spends her free time with her two wonderful children, Haley and Luke, her soul mate and fiancée, Tristan, and her 5 amazing and fun kitties.

 

Zenaida Anderson - Veterinary Technician

Zenaida Anderson

Zenaida was born in Pensacola, FL and raised in Goose Creek, SC. She is married and has two children currently serving in the military. She has a Pit Bull named “Chachi Sierra,” Pomeranian named “Chicken,” and an Orange cat named “Jollee.” Zenaida has more than 20 years’ experience as a Veterinarian Technician. She loves to pet-sit, to spend time with her grandson Kane, and being an active member of her church in North Charleston.

 

 

 

 

 

Joyie Durgin - Veterinary Technician

Joyie Durgin

Joyie was born and raised in Awendaw, SC. She graduated from Wando High School in 2005 and started her career in Veterinary Medicine as kennel help in 2002 at the age of 15. She has been working for Long Point Animal Hospital as a Veterinary Technician for 5 years and loves it. Joyie enjoys boating, fishing, and any outdoor activities. She has been married for 3 years and enjoys spending time with her Pit Bull “Lola” and orange cat “Camo.”

 

Emyle McGuiness - Receptionist

Emyle was born and raised in Charleston, SC. She is married to her husband “Earl” and resides in Goose Creek, SC. She has raised three children, has six grandchildren, and two great grandchildren. Having been part of the team for nearly a decade, she proudly knows most of the clients by their first names. She is a huge Stingrays hockey fan and attends every game she can. She has 3 dogs (Mayer, Maisy, and Ace) and 3 cats (Buddie, Cali, and Charley).
