Dr. Erin Burton

Veterinarians — Dr. Erin Burton in Mt. Pleasant SC
Erin is proud to have been born into a large military family. She attended The Georgia Institute of Technology in Atlanta, Georgia. She graduated from the University of Georgia in Athens, Georgia, with a B.S. in Biology. She attended the College of Veterinary Medicine at UGA and graduated in 1994. In 1999, she and her husband Brett opened Long Point Animal Hospital and have since welcomed two beautiful daughters into their home along with their current three dogs, three cats, and two clinic cats. When she isn't working or carpooling, Erin enjoys swimming, reading, volunteering, teaching Christian formation classes at Christ Our King Church, and napping! Her interests include medicine, geriatrics, and pain management.

Dr. Brett Burton

South Carolina — Dr. Brett Burton in Mt. Pleasant SC
Dr. Brett Burton attended USC Aiken, and graduated with a B.S. in Biology. He attended the College of Veterinary Medicine at UGA and graduated in 1994. Dr. Brett Burton is very focused on his work, but splits his time at the practice with his wife, Dr. Erin Burton, so he can be actively involved in his children's lives. Dr. Brett Burton is a huge hockey fan and plays adult league hockey. He enjoys swimming, working out, and live music. His first love is working with cats; we call him the cat whisperer at our office!
Dr. Jennifer Velasco is thrilled to be returning to her hometown. She was raised in Mt Pleasant and has lived in Alabama, Illinois, and Georgia. After earning an undergraduate degree from Auburn University in mathematics, she worked for 12 years in software testing and development. After deciding a career change was needed, she returned to school and graduated from the University of Georgia College of Veterinary Medicine in 2017.
When she is not working, Jennifer enjoys the coastal life- crabbing, fishing, and walking on the beach collecting shells. She has 2 children that keep her on her toes, 3 dogs that keep her entertained, and a wonderful husband who makes the best guacamole in the world.
Dr. Jennifer's veterinary interest include cardiology and preventative medicine.  

Joyie Durgin - Veterinary Technician

Animal Care — Joyie Durgin in Mt. Pleasant SC
Joyie was born and raised in Awendaw, SC. She graduated from Wando High School in 2005 and started her career in Veterinary Medicine as kennel help in 2002 at the age of 15. She has been working for Long Point Animal Hospital as a Veterinary Technician since 2010 and loves it. Joyie enjoys boating, fishing, and any outdoor activities. She has been married since 2012 and enjoys spending time with her Pit Bulls “Sungs” and "Suki" and orange cats “Camo” and "Doritos".
